Insurance, Warranty and Repairs

Student iPads brought onto the College campus are not covered by College insurance. Parents are advised to ensure they are covered for personal mobile computing devices (eg. iPads, mobile phones, laptops, etc) within their Home and Contents insurance policy, or take out appropriate insurance for both accidental damage and theft or loss of the device.

When purchasing an Apple computer or mobile device, it is always advisable to buy an AppleCare+ Plan. The College highly recommends all parents take out AppleCare+ on iPad purchases for accidental damage claims – whether the incidents occur on the College campus or at home. AppleCare+ for iPad provides up to two years of expert telephone technical support and additional hardware coverage from Apple, including up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a A$65 service fee. This can be purchased at the time of buying the iPad or within 60 days after purchase from Apple.  Further information on AppleCare can be obtained from the Apple website: http://www.apple.com/au/support/products/ipad.html

Warranty repair enquiries can be made directly to Apple via the Australian support number (1300 321 456) on the website listed above, taking the iPad personally to the Apple Store Carindale (or any Apple store), or by returning the product to the retailer from which the iPad was purchased. The College itself does not provide support for hardware repair of iPads, but does provide support to students to the extent of app software and configuration advice, profile settings, and assistance with connecting the iPad to the College wireless network.

Recommendation - Protective Case

To ensure the protection and reliability of the iPad, the College strongly recommends parents purchase a robust iPad case. More information can be found here.
